Ardnamurchan & Adelphi Tasting with Alex Bruce & Connal Mackenzie

We are absolutely delighted to welcome Alex Bruce & Connal Mackenzie back to the bar. They will be presenting to us some of the latest Ardnamurchan whiskies that have recently been released as well as some Adelphi bottlings.

Adelphi needs no introduction really, but here is a brief history. Adelphi was originally a distillery that was established back in 1826. The name was revived in 1993, by Jamie Walker when he established his independent bottling company. Since then, the company has bottled numerous casks, many of them being spectacular. Alex Bruce is the managing director and comes from a long whisky lineage, and together with whisky writer, Charles Maclean, they are constantly looking for great casks to be bottled. They are pretty strict when choosing these casks too, reportedly rejecting more than 90% of the casks they receive. 

Ardnamurchan was founded in 2014 (yes, the distillery turned 10 years old last year) in the Western Highlands, about 90 minutes by car from Fort William on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. It is equipped with a two tonne semi lauter mash tun made of stainless steel; four wooden washbacks and three made of stainless steel (with fermentation times of 72-96 hours); and one wash still (10,000L) and one spirit still (6,000L). A combination of peated and unpeated new make is produced here with phenol levels of 30-35ppm for the peated. Current capacity is 500,000L per annum.
