Join us in another virtual tasting, and this time we have a really exciting line-up from Compass Box for you. But more than that, we are really thrilled and privileged to be joined by Jill Boyd, a whiskymaker at Compass Box !!!
Many of you are probably familiar with the Compass Box brand, or would have at least seen it on the shelves at a good bottle shop. The Compass Box brand started in 2000, yes it feels like yesterday, but they are celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year. It was founded by US entrepreneur, John Glaser, in his kitchen! He is an indie bottler, or should I say more of a whiskymaker, constantly innovating and coming up with peculiar blends of malts, blends of grains, blended whiskies and everything else in between. John is also always pushing for more transparency with the blends, and happily gives you the recipe to all his blends (something that is actually not allowed according to Scotch Whisky Association rules). Nothing really much has changed in that sense in the 20 years, except the operations is no longer out of his kitchen. Compass Box now has an office and blending room in Chiswick, London, with their own stocks of maturing whiskies in Scotland.
We are ultra privileged to have Jill Boyd, who pretty much is John's right-hand woman and key whiskymaker at Compass Box, who will be joining us all the way from the UK to present the whiskies to us. Jill hails from the North-East of Scotland, and her job includes working on the brand's blends, purchasing new-make spirit to be filled into their own casks, as well as choosing and buying matured stocks. Apart from making whiskies, she is also a brand ambassador for Compass Box. She is the perfect person to be presenting the whiskies that we will be trying, as she has probably created and put them together with John Glaser.
So be sure to join us, for lots of stories, to ask your questions, and to try some delicious whiskies!
