Waterford Distillery in Ireland is all about terroir and transparency. Every release tells us where the barley has come from, and once you enter the Terroir Code at the back of the bottle into Waterford's website, you can even see who the farmer is, the type of soil the barley was grown on, and even to the type of yeast, fermentation times, and which casks were used for the production.

The malts for this production was from the Ballykilcavan farm, grown by farmer David Walsh-Kemmis. The whisky was distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2020, the whisky is 3 years and 11 months old. The cask types used were 1st Fill US Barrels, Premium French, and Vin Doux Naturel.

Tasting note:

Nose is malty and biscuity. A touch of spiciness. Nice minerality and a touch of orange peel. Palate is malty and citrusy. Sweet barley, biscuity and mouth-coating, chewy and rich, buttery. Hints of brown sugar. Long finish with a hint of flint. Sensational drop.
