Cadenhead's Warehouse Tasting 2021 Anomaly Blended Malt Bourbon Hogshead, 49%
No, this is not a typo, it is indeed from a bourbon cask. Why it got so dark is still unknown. This whisky has got a long twisted story. The youngest single malt in the blend is from 1987 when it was blended in 1997 as a 10 years old blended malt. It was shipped to America, but it did not sell. The leftover stocks were sent back to the UK in 2004 and the bottles were tipped out and re-casked and finally bottled in 2021, this is the end product.
Greenish-black in colour. Nose has whisky rancio, stewed fruits, and some old sherry notes. Palate is sweet and fruity, rancio, barley sugar, minerals. Elegant and long finish.
