This is an official bottling of Glenlivet at 12yo that was bottled in the 1980's, meaning the liquid would have been distilled in the 70's or late 60's. A great bottle to see how different production methods were back then. The flavours on these older bottlings really reflects how good the sherry casks that were used back then were, and also probably shows us how important yeast strains play in flavour profiles.
Old school sherry nose, old cupboard, touch of varnish, cherries, lovely perfume. Palate is gentle with medium richness. Nice viscosity and syrupy. A touch of minerality, fruity mellow and elegant. A totally different style of Glenlivet!
